About me

Hi, I am Sam. I build websites that bring in customers.

WebsiteWensen is my web design studio in Amersfoort. Not an agency with account managers, just me. I design your site, build it, make sure you get found and keep it running afterwards. So you deal with one person, from the first conversation to long after your site goes live.

What I stand for

Technology should never be a barrier

Many business owners get stuck on their website. It is too expensive, too technical, or it looks fine but brings in nothing. Often they do not even know who to call when something breaks. That can be different, and it is exactly why I do this.

So I keep the whole picture in my own hands: design, build, findability and maintenance. You do not have to switch between a designer, a builder and a hosting company pointing at each other. You call me, and I know straight away what you mean, because I built your site myself.

What matters to me is that you understand what is happening. I explain things in plain words, I say so when something is not needed, and you know the price before I start. For most business owners a website is a serious expense. You deserve to know where your money goes.

My story

From account manager to web designer

I did not start out as a designer. Before I made websites, I worked as an account manager at companies in waste collection. That meant sitting down with business owners: listening to what they were struggling with, working out what they actually needed and turning that into an honest proposal. That part of the job never changed. Only what I deliver is different.

You can see that background in how I approach a project. To me a website is not a picture but a sales conversation that runs day and night. So I do not start with colours, I start with the question of what your customer wants to know before picking up the phone. What it costs, how long it takes, and why they should choose you. Get that right and the site works. Get it wrong and no amount of good looks will save it.

In 2021 I started for myself. The reason was practical: I wanted to travel and keep working at the same time. That is exactly what happened. For half a year I worked from abroad, and that teaches you a few things quickly. You have to communicate clearly, because your client cannot catch you in the hallway. You have to be reachable and do what you promise, because there is no office to hide behind. And you learn to work efficiently, because nobody else is going to sort it out for you.

Since September 2025 I have been back in the Netherlands, building WebsiteWensen further from here. The way I work has stayed the same: quick turnaround, short lines and agreements that hold. The difference is that I am nearby again, so dropping by is an option too.

Amersfoort is not a random base. I was born and raised here, so I know the city from the inside. The centre, De Hoef, Vathorst, the business parks on the edge of town: I know where business owners are and what kind of customers they serve. That saves a lot of explaining if you do business here, and it helps with the choices behind a site that needs to be found locally.
Who I work for

Business owners ready for the next step

I like working for freelancers and small businesses that want to grow. People who have built something with their hands or their craft, who know exactly what they are doing, but notice that their website does not show it. The job is then always the same: come across online as strongly as you do in person.

That could be a roofer with thirty years behind him and not a single photo of his work online. A therapist who runs mostly on word of mouth and still has to make the move online. Or someone starting next month who simply wants to look the part. In all three cases it is not about having the prettiest site in the trade, but the site that best explains why someone should call you.

What I enjoy about it is that you see the effect right away. A business owner chasing their own ambition deserves a website that matches it. If your phone rings more often because the site is doing its job, I have done mine.

What that means for you

Eight things I promise up front

Working with a one-person business is different from working with an agency. Here is what you can concretely expect from me.

  • You always speak to the same personFrom our first conversation to a year after launch. No ticket number, no handover, no account manager passing on your question.
  • A reply within one working dayTo your email, message or call. Sooner if something is down, because I get an alert about that myself.
  • Your feedback is handled the same dayThere is no sprint or planning cycle in between. That is why a one-pager goes live in 2 to 5 days and a business site in 1 to 2 weeks.
  • A fixed price, up frontA compact site starts at €495, a complete business site at €795. You know what your site costs before I start.
  • Basic SEO is always includedMeta titles and descriptions, a solid structure and copy that Google and AI search find well. At no extra cost.
  • A month of aftercare after launchA line of text that needs changing, a photo you want swapped, prices that move. That month, small changes are included.
  • Support does not stop thereSend me a message and I will help. Even if your site has been running for a year and you are stuck on something small.
  • Everything is in your nameThe design, the site, your domain and your hosting. If you ever move to another party, you take all of it with you.
And the honest downside. I am one person, so I cannot run ten projects at once. If you are in a hurry, give me a call and you will hear straight away whether it fits the schedule. I would rather say "next week" honestly than promise something I cannot deliver.
How I work

Values you actually benefit from

Results first

Good looks are nice, but what counts is what your website brings in. I design for more calls and more enquiries, not for compliments about the colours.

Honest and clear

Clear prices up front and honest advice. If you do not need something, I will say so, even when it earns me less.

Personal

Short lines and one fixed point of contact. The person who builds your site is the one you call. You are not a number in a system.

Work I am proud of

Two sites you can see for yourself

I would rather show what I make than talk about it. Both of these are simply online, so you can check how they work on your phone.

  • wodak.nl, roofing company in AmersfoortA site that shows Volker's thirty years of experience, with clear services and easy contact.
  • quadrivashetgooi.nl, massage clinic in Het GooiA warm, well-kept site for Yvonne, with clear treatments and a low threshold to book an appointment.

More work and the reactions from both clients are in the portfolio.

Frequently asked questions

About working with me

Who designs and builds my website?
I do, from start to finish. The design, the build, the copy where needed, the findability and the maintenance. Nothing is outsourced, so the person you speak to is the person working on your site.
Do you work outside Amersfoort?
Yes. I am based in Amersfoort and work for businesses across the Netherlands. Most of it runs through email, phone and video calls, so distance makes no difference. In the Amersfoort region I am happy to come by in person if you prefer that.
How quickly do you reply?
Within one working day, usually sooner. During a live project I handle your feedback the same day, so nothing sits still. If your site unexpectedly goes down, I get an alert myself and pick it up straight away.
What happens once my site is live?
For the first month small changes are included: a line of text, a photo, updated prices. After that you can take out maintenance for a fixed annual fee, and you are always welcome to message me if you get stuck.
Who owns my website after launch?
You do. The design, the site, the domain and the hosting are all in your company's name. If you stop working with me, you get a full copy and I hand everything over to whoever you choose. That is how it should be, even if not everyone does it.
Is SEO included?
Basic SEO comes with every site: meta titles and descriptions, a sound page structure, fast loading and copy that Google and AI search find well. Want more, such as landing pages per city or industry, then that is available at a rate. Whether it is worth it in your case, I will tell you honestly.
