What does having a website built cost?

The honest answer: it depends on what you need. This guide shows you within five minutes which prices are normal, where the differences come from and what to watch out for.

The short version

A professional website for a small business in the Netherlands costs roughly between 400 and 5,000 euro. That wide range comes down to three things: the size of the site, custom-built versus template, and who builds it. With us, a compact custom website starts at 495 euro one-off, a more extensive business site from 50 euro per month, and a web shop or larger site is quoted after a conversation.

What determines the price?

1. Size. A one-pager with your story, services and a contact form is built faster than a ten-page site with a blog and portfolio.

2. Template or custom. A template is cheap to start with, but your site looks like a thousand others and is packed with features that slow it down. Custom is built around your business: faster, unique and easier to find. The price difference is smaller than most people think.

3. Functionality. A contact form is standard. A booking system, web shop or integration with your accounting software is extra work and extra cost. Count on a few hundred euro per integration.

4. Content. Do you supply texts and photos yourself, or does that need to be created? Good copywriting takes time. We help with it as standard; at some agencies it is a hefty extra.

Price indications per type of website

Compact website or one-pager: from 495 euro. Perfect for freelancers and starters. Online quickly with a professional look, contact form and basic SEO.

Business website with several pages: from 50 euro per month. A complete site with a page per service, extended SEO and ongoing support.

Web shop or large custom site: custom quote. Depends on products, payment methods and integrations. Always ask for a fixed-price quote.

Mind the running costs. Besides the build you always pay for a domain name (around 10 to 20 euro per year) and hosting. Maintenance often comes on top. We facilitate hosting and maintenance for a fixed annual fee, so you know exactly where you stand.

Why is one provider so much cheaper?

A 99 euro website exists, but you get what you pay for: a template you fill yourself, slow loading times, no SEO and no help when something breaks. On the other end, large agencies sometimes charge 10,000 euro for work a small agency delivers for a fraction. The middle road: a small, specialised agency with fixed prices, real cases and personal contact. Always ask what exactly is included and what changes after launch cost.
